Client Spotlight: Katherine Takes on the 292 Mile Lebanon Mountain Trail!

The BEST part of being a personal trainer is witnessing how clients use the fitness we build to live their fullest lives. It gives me tremendous satisfaction when clients feel empowered to take on new challenges both in everyday life and in big new adventures. I started training the amazing Katherine Maher when my longtime client and functional training rockstar Ash moved in with her during the pandemic. Over the years I've consistently trained them virtually as a couple while they've moved from SF to New York City to Connecticut to Brooklyn and in so many places in between (even Thailand!). It is my pleasure each week to watch them explore how to mobilize and strengthen their bodies and to support and motivate each other as partners during their workouts. I'm beaming with pride that she's off this month to take on a herculean challenge and to fulfill a dream and I'm grateful she took a few minutes to share in a quick interview below how integrating fitness into your daily life can prepare you for HUGE adventures.

What are you doing this month?

Hiking 292 miles on the Lebanon Mountain Trail! It’s a through hike along the Mount Lebanon range that forms the spine of the country.

Why are you doing it?

Because I’ve always wanted to! Lebanon is a beautiful country with the warmest people. This hike is a chance to better know a country I love, test my physical and mental endurance, dust off my rusty Arabic, and eat some amazing food along the way.

How has training prepared you to take on this goal?

Massively. Thanks to JJ I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been. I know I’m fit and strong to take on this physical challenge, and that the biggest test will be my own commitment. If anything, I’m worried about losing some of my upper body gains! [Editor’s note: oh don’t you worry about that, KM! Bicep curls and tricep dips await your return!]
