How Little “Thank Yous” to Yourself Add Up
/I heard on a podcast recently that being polite to AI bots (like saying “please” and “thank you”) ultimately costs millions of dollars and energy. Basically, the smallest little action can yield big consequences.
Side note: I asked ChatGPT (begrudgingly, as I’m not really a fan of AI at this time beyond proofreading) if this was true, and it sorta checks out. Funny how my brain works—so many things for me relate back to health and fitness. It reminded me that seemingly small, unremarkable actions, multiplied over time or at scale, can lead to time, dollars and effort “well spent,” to steal the line from Sam Altman.
So that one-minute meditation, that extra glass of water, that walk around the block, that exercise snack, that one deep breath between meetings, that single stretch in the morning—whatever it is. Over time, all those tiny little “pleases” and “thank yous” you give yourself really do add up.
