Tilt Your Way Back to Pelvic Happiness

I talk a lot in my group classes about your pelvis. Well, not just YOUR pelvis but OUR pelvises. Specifically about what it’s doing during certain movements. Many folks don’t have awesome awareness or access to their pelvis. This can stem from long hours sitting which tightens the hip flexors and weakens the glutes and core causing the pelvis to tighten up and shift into an “anterior tilt” or “forward dump”. If we can’t neutralize this tilt and we go to squat, deadlift or any other complex movement we can end up moving through the lower back in a way that doesn’t feel awesome and can lead to injury. So one great way to mobilize the pelvis and to strengthen the core and glutes is to practice pelvic tilts.
